Power Adopting Social Roots

Note: I had written this in my journal on December 27th, 2025 at 12:40 AM.

Every social phenomena with roots in the people will be commodified by those in power as a way to in turn tame and control the public. As religion both polytheistic and monotheistic existed as a natural result of public demand, it has been adopted by governments and private entities in order to sway and alter cultural behavior to act in the power’s best interest.

Similarly, as the market would be a result of public need, organic trends, and culture, through its eventual commodification it will make the public a servant to its functions. There is no product and trend that gains popularity organically anymore in a capitalist market, it is those in power altering the market and the people in order to fulfill their own needs.

Through time and power’s flexibility, it grabs all organic culture founded by the people and transforms it into a major tool for mass social conditioning. The ancient Greeks called on Aphrodite to give them luck in love, and the government used her as a political tool to garner votes. The Jewish people found heroes to believe in during periods of mass hopelessness, that kingdoms would adopt said heroes to influence the people. Although capitalism functions through its adoption and weaponization, it has only worsened post-reaganomics under surveillance capitalism.
